Mobius Materials is seeking a highly-motivated frontend Software Developer to help build the future of electronic component procurement.
About the role
Mobius Materials is a marketplace helping electronics manufacturers buy and sell chips and reduce waste in the semiconductor industry. We’re expanding our product development capabilities in order to build new features for our customers and expand our capacity in the sectors we’ve already entered.
Our frontend application is a React app using Next.js and react-query, but we have separate backend services managing our API and data models. We’re looking for someone who’s not afraid to jump in and translate a rough idea into an exceptional user experience, as well as being able to write robust JavaScript code.
You’ll be joining us in our office in Shockoe Bottom in Richmond, Virginia. We’re fully in-person most days, but are flexible about working from home or remotely as needed.
This is a full-time, salaried position. The salary range is $80,000–110,000 plus equity, depending on experience. In addition to holidays, we have unlimited time off, and leadership at Mobius regularly checks in to make sure people are taking advantage of it.

- You have an eye for design details, and a well-defined sense of taste when it comes to user experience.

- You get excited about learning new things. You are legitimately excited to talk about your craft.
- You’re good at parsing requirements, getting context, and turning ideas into solutions. You know how to strike the right balance between enabling your colleagues to succeed and multiplying the force of their efforts while also generating output of your own.
- You care about how you communicate: face-to-face, on calls, and in text. You have strong skills in all three areas. You’re diligent and patient.

Forecasting the right number of chips to buy when manufacturing a hardware product is a hard problem. If you overbuy, you end up with excess inventory, and if you underbuy, you end up scrambling to find the parts you need. Mobius solves both of these problems by closing the loop: we help customers sell their excess components, and quickly find stock when needed.
Besides helping our customers, we’re also helping the planet. The electronics industry throws away $15 billion of chips annually — most of the chips we sell would have otherwise gone into a landfill.
